The fourth installment of the legendary Recoil series, featuring Trophy Truck champion BJ Baldwin tearing through the streets of Havana, Cuba. Powerband Films supported the camera crew with pursuit vehicle operation and stabilized chase sequences.
The Challenge
Shooting a 900-horsepower Trophy Truck through active city streets in a country with extremely limited production infrastructure. Cuba had no professional camera car services, no helicopter permits for aerial, and severe fuel restrictions.
The Approach
The team custom-built pursuit camera vehicles from locally-sourced vehicles, retrofitting them with vibration-dampened camera platforms. Jay's unit handled the tight alley sequences using stabilized gimbal rigs from motorcycle chase units.
The Result
Recoil 4 exploded with over 14 million views and became the most-watched installment in the franchise. The Cuban setting gave it a unique visual identity.
